Benefits of Using Anchor Links
- Efficient Navigation: Anchor links can provide a direct path for your visitors to jump to the section they are interested in without scrolling through unnecessary content.
- Improved User Experience: By simplifying navigation, you enhance the overall usability of your site, which can lead to higher visitor satisfaction and ultimately (and more importantly), better retention rates.
- Time-Saving Feature: For busy users, being able to skip directly to the information they need saves time and makes your website more user-friendly.
How to Create Anchor Links
Creating anchor links on your Squarespace page doesn’t have to be a daunting task. In fact now, Squarespace 7.1 has a built in feature for you to create these quickly.
1. Identify Key Sections: Start by going to the section of your page you want users to jump to. Go to ‘Edit’ mode, then hover over that section and select ‘Edit Section’ > scroll to the bottom to go to ‘Anchor Link’.
Example below.
Go to ‘Edit Section’.
Scroll down to find ‘Anchor Link’
2. Insert Anchor Tags: Within this Squarespace editor, insert your anchor tag/name (you can call it whatever you like). This name will act like the bookmark that users can jump to directly.
3. Link the Anchors: Now that your anchor link is named. Click the ‘copy link’ symbol (circled in red below), and now your link is copied.
Now go to the Button or Text you want to create your link, and paste this link into the ‘Edit Link’.
Remember to Save your changes! :)
To test out your link, its best to refresh the page, and then go to Preview mode. Your Anchor Link is ready!
